By Gráinne Ní Aodha, PASupport for Ireland remaining in the EU is at 88 per cent in Ireland and 79 per cent in Northern Ireland, according to an opinion poll. It found that in Northern Ireland, 71 per cent of people who said they voted leave in the Brexit referendum indicated that they support Ireland remaining a member of the EU. Some 64 per cent of respondents who said they voted leave in the 2016 Brexit referendum believe Northern Ireland is doing worse. Three quarters of people in Northern Ireland and 51 per cent in Ireland believe that Northern Ireland should be represented in the European Parliament, the survey found. Noelle O’Connell, chief executive of European Movement Ireland, said it was the 10th year of producing the EU issues poll and the first time that Northern Ireland was included.
